The theme of the 2015 Seoul International Fireworks
Festival is “the magical fireworks village, where you can
find the fireworks in you.”

Today may just be another day, but we have a longing deep within our hearts for one special day, for our respective fireworks. One of the 365 days in a year, the Fireworks Festival will be a memory you can never forget, so come and find the fireworks in you.
As you explore the magical village, you will be able to find the firework in you.

At this fireworks village, you will follow the fireworks road, illuminated by a light show synchronized to the music, making for a wonderful mood. From seven in the afternoon, we will begin our innovative, exuberant lightshow, developed by experts from Hanwha, the United States, and Philippines.

Begun in 2000 under the slogan “Spreading Hope through Fireworks,” the Seoul International Fireworks Festival will come to you this year. Since 2000, Hanwha has been hosting this public services event annually, with this year being the 13th to date. A favorite piece of culture to represent Seoul, it is an open invite to all. It has even opened up to fireworks development teams internationally, and the sky is the limit for this event.

'Chu-seok' in Korea

Hello! This is staff Harriet from Leo Guesthouse.

From tomorrow until Monday (9.26-9.28) is the biggest holiday called 'Chu-seok'.

I am really sad that this huge holiday is on saturday and sunday.

Anyway I am going to tell you about 'Chu-seok' today!!

What do people do?

Families gather together and eat delicious foods.

Especially we eat ricecake called 'Song-pyun' and many different 'jeons'.

My parents are going to the city called Jeonju, where my grandparents live.

And my mom is cooking some foods for 3 days to take it to Jeonju.

We also visit ancestors' graves and have memorial services.

We cut the weeds around the graves before the services.

We put the some chu-seok foods, fruits and alcohol on the table and bow.

We thank our ancestors for the harvest.

There used to be a lot of traditional games played in Chu-seok.

Sadly the traditional games are not played very much these days.

One of the big games in Chu-seok is Korean wrestling called 'Ssireum'.

Ssireum competition is on the TV every Chu-seok.

Chu-seok is the 15th of August of the lunar calendar.

In ancient society, our ancestors worshipped the moon.

And the brightest moon of the year was on the 15th of August.

Our ancestors enjoyed the celebration under the bright moon.

Few days ago, i tried Grapefruit soju!

It was so sweet and delicious.
