Let's go to HanRiver !

Hello everyone!

Did you know that from Leo Guesthouse you can go and walk to the Han River? It's about 15 minutes away.
You can have a wonderful view on the other side of the river, with Korean National Assembly and Yeouido.

There is a park there where you can practice running, use the exercising installations, or just take a walk and enjoy the scenery. This is a nice place to relax, and to meet friends.

It's still cold here in Korea, but we will go there during summer for sure!

See you there soon!

Blandine.

Have you ever been Sky Park?

Hi. Today i'm going to introduce to you one of my favorite and familliar place 'Sky Park'. Many Koreans often go to Sky Park for a walk. It's a great place for dating and traveling also.
It is near by Seoul World Cup Stadium. If you just sightsee the stadium, you can feel stadium is kind of a boring place. Actually real place for sightseeing is in neighbourhood of the stadium.

This is a photo of 'Sky Park'. There are a lot of reeds in autumn season like you see in photo. And the better part is you can also enjoy beautiful night view of Seoul on 'Sky Park'.

a way go :  First, Get off the Wolrd Cup Stadium staion, go out by exit 1. It will takes 10-15 minutes to get 'Sky Park'

Welcome to Seodaemun jail !

Hello everyone! How are you these days ?

We went to visit Seodaemun jail with Shane this Tuesday. He is also a staff in Leo Guesthouse and we decided to go there at the last minute and during a snowy days, but it was fun.

This place is really interesting. This is a hot place for history lovers. When you visit this old jail you understand really well the story and the relationships between Korea and Japan. This part of history is really sad, but the museum there explains you well what happened.

The first part of the visit consists of a museum explaining the facts and what happened and why this place is important in Korean history. The second part leads you to the basement of the first building in where they did torture a lot of convicted man and women.
After the first building you reach a big jail quarter where you discover the cells and the life in the jail. Everywhere during the visit, you can see corners with old prisoners testimonies (but it's only in Korean starting this part).

After this huge building you have to walk a little outside before you arrive in front of the hanging room. You then discover the whole process and it was scary and seedy.

At the end, you can explore the weird sport ground in the middle of what is now a park.

During the visit we were impressed a lot by what they did to renovate the jail and to teach people what happened. I have to admit we felt weird after this visit, but it's a must see in Seoul and South Korea!

Let's go to Mecenat Polis !

Hello!

I'm Blandine, a French staff in Leo Guesthouse Hongdae ! =D

Today, I want to introduce a super cool place near our guesthouse. Have you heard about Mecenatpolis ? It is a big mall with everything you need : clothes, cosmetics, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food places, supermarket and even a cinema !!
It's important to say that the architecture is really nice too and from spring to autumn you can see the really famous umbrellas decoration there.
From the guesthouse, you just need 4 minutes by walk to reach the place.

This mall is nice to just walk around and take a break and the atmosphere is nice. You can go to the mart and then take a rest drinking a hot or iced coffee with your friends or family.

It is really easy to get there : you can walk ten minutes from Hongdae or come by subway line 2 or 6 and use exit 10.

I took these photos this autumn, and it was really beautiful.

I hope you will visit us and Mecenat Polis too !
